Area J Roads Need Work
Gordon Zaitsoff, Regional District of Central
Kootenay (RDCK) director for electoral area J, says the recent
Union of British Columbia Municipalities convention in Victoria
will yield benefits for his constituents.
Zaitsoff tabled demands for the area with representatives
from B.C. Hydro, the Ministry of Environment and the Ministry
of Transportation.
Zaitsoff
also used the UBCM as an opportunity to promote the RDCK’s
plans to restore the Brilliant Suspension Bridge. He said the
bridge plans fit well with the government’s Trans-Canada
trail program. Engineers estimate the restoration of the bridge
will cost anywhere from $450,000 to $800,000 and will look for
government grants to offset costs and wants the City of Castlegar
to become a partner in the project. Zaitsoff addressed a number
of other issues with provincial representatives and is confident
his points were heard.
