CBT
PRESENTS $200,000 CHEQUE TO BRILLIANT SUSPENSION BRIDGE
RESTORATION COMMITTEE
CBT VP of Community Partnerships Wally
Penner was on-hand September 15 at the Brilliant Suspension
Bridge to present $200,000 to the Brilliant Suspension
Bridge Restoration Committee and the Regional District
of Central Kootenay.
The funds will go towards the restoration
of the Brilliant Suspension Bridge, a project CBT has
been proud to support from its beginning.
'CBT
is proud of the committee's work on making this project
a reality for the people of the region,' says Penner.
'We're also proud of all the other local groups, organizations,
and individuals who have committed to the success of this
effort, and we look forward to once again being able to
take a stroll across this bridge in the near future.'
The Committee exceeded their fundraising
target of $750,000 with a collection of $1,064,098 to
date. Agreement was also reached with the Regional District
of Central Kootenay to take ownership of this project,
and work is set to start later this year with the aim
of completing construction by next summer.
The
restored site will feature benches and signage about the
project and the bridge’s history for users to enjoy,
and will connect with the Trans Canada Trail system.
