The tender for the reconstruction of the Brilliant Suspension Bridge has been awarded by the Regional District of Central Kootenay to Concreate USL Ltd. for a price of $1,057,000.00.

Re-construction is now underway and the scaffolding is going up for the long-awaited restoration of the Brilliant Suspension Bridge. The platform will extend 6 feet below the bridge deck and out 6 feet on either side. The bridge will be wrapped in with tarp to capture all the debris and dust from removal of the deck and sandblasting that will occur. Approximately 30-40 feet will be done at a time. The wood should arrive in early November and it's hoped that all sandblasting and painting will be completed at that time when attention can then be focused on re-decking the bridge. Completion is expected by mid-December.
